As with most things these days, some speculative details have already leaked out about NEXT year’s Ford Lightning.  We’re happy to share them with you, but keep in mind this is speculation only: don’t count on these as facts about next year’s Lightning release. Ford first unveiled the all-electric F-150 Lightning in 2021 as the newest member to the F-series lineup, and the first all-electric option. All expectations are that Ford will continue to deliver top performance in the electric version of America’s favorite truck for 2024.

MotorTrend.com® seems to have heard some rumbles on what to expect out of the 2024 Ford Lightning, and shares their belief that any changes to next year’s model will likely be aesthetic only- after all, why mess with a good thing?

The Lightning already delivers huge power and torque, dependable battery range on a single charge, impressive cargo space and hauling capability, and towing ability.

There’s no doubt Ford will continue their commitment to electric vehicle versatility with the 2024 F-150 Lighting.  The battery-powered Lightning delivers a lot like the traditional F-150. The difference?  All Lightning model F-150’s come with two electric motors powered by either of two battery packs.   Depending on which battery you go with, with current year models you’ll get between 230 and 320 miles on a full charge.  With the standard battery, the motors combine to give you a respectable 452 horsepower.  The larger Extended-Range Battery delivers a whopping 580 horsepower, and this Lightning can accelerate zero to sixty in four seconds!

It will be interesting to see if Ford is able to top what they’ve already done with Lightning’s power:  after all, the 2023 F-150 Lightning offers the most torque of any F-150, ever.   Every new Lightning comes standard with all-wheel drive.   And the truck is basically a generator on wheels:  Ford Lightning can provide up to three days of electricity to an average sized house.  Plus, Ford’s exclusive ProPower Onboard gives you an additional available 9.6 kW pluggable power on the tailgate.  Basically you get bumper-to-bumper power options, with up to 11 convenient power outlets in the cab, front trunk (frunk) and bed!

As for max available towing capacity, currently the Ford Lightning towing capacity is up to 7,700 pounds, depending on your battery package. There are rumors that the 2024 Lightning may be able to up that tow capability to an even 10,000 lbs.  If the in-cab command center stays the same for 2024, you can expect all kinds of features and apps to make towing easier and safer than ever.

Again, this early in the process it’s just a lot of speculation, but we like to daydream about the next iteration of the F-150 as much as you do!  Stop into D’Orazio Ford’s showroom in Wilmington today and let us review the current 2023 Ford Lightning options- you’ll be impressed- and fill you in on the future of all-electric vehicles at D’Orazio Ford!
