The Ford Ranger is a mid-size pickup truck comparable to a Toyota Tacoma, a Nissan Frontier, or a Chevy Colorado.
The Ranger has seen several changes since its original launch in 1982. That’s understandable since the market has evolved so much. But what’s exciting about the 2024 Ranger is that it represents a new era in the truck’s journey. It’s been completely redesigned to fit Ford’s existing truck portfolio better. The front grille styling will look similar to the F-150 now, along with an overhaul of the interior cabin space. The Raptor is a new trim that is designed to extract the best of the Ranger label performance, which we’ll go over below.
The base models of the Ranger come with a turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine—just like the previous models. These trims will offer you 270 hp, which is great for a mid-size pickup truck.
BUT the new model now also offers a twin-turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine that’ll churn out a mammoth 315 hp and 400 lb. ft. of torque. This engine is available on select trims.
What you’ll get across all trims, however, is a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 lbs.

The 2023 Ranger is Ford’s midsize truck that slots in nicely between the smaller Maverick and larger F-150. And it’s had a major overhaul for 2023, the first since it was re-introduced here in 2019, and in our opinion, it’s clearly a leap in the right direction for the brand.
The new model has beefed up its style, and its wider, longer frame allows for a bigger truck bed.
