Looking for a truck that’s as good as the F-150 but smaller? Or a truck that’s as much value for money as the Ranger but even smaller? Well, we’ve got great news then.
Ford’s new 2024 Maverick is quite the compact pickup truck. It’s rated a perfect 10 by Car & Driver magazine, with a 4.8/5 from TrueCar.
Below, we’ll go into detail about what makes the Maverick such a great truck, along with all that we’re excited about the 2024 release.
And if you wanted a mid-size pickup truck instead, D’Orazio Ford is still your best bet. We can get you a great deal on a new Ford Ranger for sale in Wilmington and the surrounding areas.
What other trucks compete with the 2024 Ford Maverick?
The Maverick debuted as a compact truck in 2021 and has been getting a lot of attention ever since. Only the Hyundai Santa Cruz currently is an apples-to-apples competitor. But you could also draw comparisons with the Honda Ridgeline or the Nissan Frontier.
What’s new in the 2024 Ford Maverick?
Not too many big changes with the new model, since the previous one was wildly popular. Yet, it’s worth noting that the hybrid powertrain is no longer the default on the Maverick. The 2L four-cylinder engine will come standard across trims now, with the option to upgrade to the hybrid setup. All trims are also available as front-wheel drives, with select options for an AWD.
How many trims are available with the 2024 Ford Maverick?
The Maverick comes in three trims:
- The base model, which is the 2024 Ford Maverick XL
- The mid-range model—the 2024 Ford Maverick XLT
- And the highest-end model—the 2024 Ford Maverick Lariat (some of the exterior options on this one are gorgeous)
What kind of performance can I expect from the 2024 Ford Maverick?
As we mentioned above, the standard offering is the 2L four-cylinder engine that churns out a vibrant 250 hp in an eight-speed automatic transmission configuration. This comes with a 1,500 lbs payload capacity and 2,000 lbs towing capacity.
The hybrid powertrain which was standard earlier is now optional, and if chosen, offers a cool 191 hp between a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and an electric motor.
Perfect for short out-of-town trips and for carrying around any equipment for personal projects.
Any features I should be excited about?
Ford always adds a little extra to its trucks, and the Maverick is no different. We’re especially hyped about the Multi-Position Tailgate that lets you do so much with the Maverick’s trailer bed and tailgate configurations. You’ll have up to 10 available tie-downs for anything you’re carrying, offering perfect versatility for every plan.
If you wanted even more space in the trailer bed, we’d recommend the classic Ford pickup truck instead—the F-150.
