The quick answer: The Ford EcoSport is not designed as a Flex Fuel Vehicle. As of 2022, the last year Ford released a new Ford EcoSport for sale, each of these sporty subcompact SUVs come with standard 4 wheel drive, and a 2.0L Ti-VCT engine (Ti-VCT stands for Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing). The EcoSport’s engine is designed to run on gasoline, and EcoSport is not one of Ford’s FFV fleet.
Ford’s FFVs are designed with internal combustion engines that can run on a range of gasoline and ethanol blends, from 100 percent gas up to an E85 flex fuel gas-ethanol blend that contains up to 85% ethanol. With 2022 being the last year EcoSport was sold in the US, it was not one of the Ford vehicles designed for the new fuel alternatives.
Instead EcoSport, while the smallest SUV in the Ford lineup, features a muscular gasoline-powered 2.0 liter 4-cylinder standard engine. So it’s easy to drive, easy to fuel, and easy on your wallet!
