Things to consider when buying a used truck from D’Orazio Ford

• Usage- The first question we’ll ask you is what do you intend to use the truck for- i.e., will you be towing boats/trailers/other vehicles?  Will you be driving off-road? Is this a work vehicle or for personal use?

• 2 wheel vs 4 wheel drive- A 4 wheel drive pickup will cost a bit more than a 2 wheel drive, but if you’re trucking on rough terrain or through inclement weather regularly, you’ll want to opt for the performance of a 4 wheel drive.
• Passenger capacity- A regular pickup truck cab usually seats 2 adults comfortably.  If you need more passenger space, consider a crew-cab or larger cab model.
• Bed size- Consider what you’ll be carrying in the back of your truck: if you’re planning on hauling long construction materials or equipment, you’ll want to opt for a longer bed.  If you’re carrying standard size cargo, a standard bed will suit you just fine.
• Fuel options/gas mileage- These days, there are hybrid and flex- fuel trucks available on the resale market, which means gas savings and environmental advantages.   If you’re looking at a traditional engine, keep in mind that because they’re bigger and more powerful, trucks don’t get the same MPGs as sedans or SUVs, so you’ll want to consider size/engine if fuel economy is a big factor for you.
• Additional items to consider:  Do you prefer manual or automatic transmission?  The manual option usually costs less than automatic.  Will you need/want a camper shell?  How about tech?
